“I really believe there are things nobody would see if I didn’t photograph them.”
— Diane Arbus

After a sweltering week, the fall chill is starting to creep into the morning air where I am in Quebec. That means it’s just a few more weeks for the fair weather photographers out there. It won’t be long until the leaves start to change and brilliant colours of fall take over. Until then, enjoy these shots of fantastic photo locations from the last few weeks of summer.

Naoshima Island - Naoshima, Japan

Our photo location of the week goes to new user Gonzalo Ruiz Calavera. Gonzalo shares this very cool pumpkin sculpture from Naoshima Island. Naoshima Island has been nicknamed “art island” where the whole island is a museum.  There are two giant pumpkins situated on the island, the Yellow Pumpkin on the Pier overlooking the ocean has become an icon of the island.  The second pumpkin is the Red Pumpkin and is located at the ferry terminal. Needless to say, we’re adding this to our bucket list!

Adam & Eve Tavern - Norwich, England

Scott Goldsworthy finds flowered heaven among the heathers with this colourful shot of Adam and Eve Tavern. The tavern is widely claimed to be the oldest pub in the city of Norwich, with the earliest known reference made of the tavern in 1241.  Norwich is well known for being the most complete medieval city in the UK, featuring ancient buildings cobblestone streets and more. Thanks for sharing this beautiful historic landmark Scott!

Patkuli Viewing Platform - Tallin, Estonia

Bhotch returns with the Patkuli Viewing Platform – A spectacular spot to take in the cityscape overlooking Old Tallinn. The view is especially majestic at night. The stairs going up are quite steep but you can go around the long way through the cobbled streets of Tallinn to avoid the climbing.

Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site - Baddeck, Nova Scotia

Michel Bricteux shares a shot of the HD-4 hydrofoil in the museum at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. Designed for anti-submarine duty, it held the world’s marine speed record for several years. Alexander Graham Bell is best known as the inventor of the telephone. Lesser known is the fact that this genius spent much of his life working on various subjects ranging from aerodynamics (aircraft, hydrocopters) to inventions for the hearing impaired. He was a true Leonardo of the industrial age.

Old Barn - Thousand Islands Parkway, Ontario

Lately, I’ve been shooting a lot of old barns, here’s a favorite of mine. This old barn is easily photographed from the roadside of the Thousand Islands Parkway in southern Ontario.

A busy week for me, but glad to get back to looking at the great photo locations being added to the PIXEO app. Reminds me to get off my butt and go shooting this weekend. I’ve been delinquent and my camera’s calling! Hope we’ll see you out there too 😉
