The world-famous Great Sphynx of Egypt has a height of 20m and is the largest ancient Sphynx sculpture in the world. It is also the oldest and is widely believed to be over 4000 years old. Contrary to myth, the sphynx's nose was not shot off with a canon by Napolean, but rather using rod and chisels by someone in the 3rd and 10th centuries. The sphynx is a sight to behold regardless, and the whole Giza area is a place that any travelling photographer should visit before they die. (Giza, Egypt)
