Home to the Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille family since 1784, Egeskov Castle remains one of the best-preserved water castles in Europe. Egeskov Castle is an excellent example of a renaissance castle built-in 1554. The castle is beautiful and serenely photogenic in its watery home. Built upon oak trees in the middle of a lake, Egeskov Castle is perfectly constructed, and local legends suggest that during construction, an entire forest of oak trees was levelled to build the palace. Open year-round to tourists, the castle is a popular destination with photographers and tourists alike. (Kværndrup, Denmark)
