Mushroom Beach House - Photo by Robert Gourley

A unique mushroom-shaped building hides at bottom of the cliffs at Blacks Beach. It was designed to withstand naturally occurring rock slides, earthquakes, and waves. Although the house is no trespassing, the entire hike and perimeter of the home are open to the public. This is a fun hike through a canyon with stunning views. The hike begins at Scripps Coastal Reserve, where there is a trail to the far left of the reserve that leads you down to the shore. Or you can access it from Blacks Beach.
