Plum Island Pink House - Photo by Lee Wright

Built in 1925 as the result of a messy divorce, the long-abandoned Pink House sits solitary on a salt marsh in Massachusetts. The house was built as part of a settlement where the wife agreed to divorce the man in exchange for building an exact replica of the family home they shared in town. The man agreed, but as the terms of the divorce did not specify where it would be built, the man built it in the middle of a salt marsh. With no running water, and only saltwater nearby, the woman never lived in it and since completion, it has sat abandoned here in the middle of the marsh. (Newbury, Massachusetts, USA)
