Grosvenor Arch - Photo by John Fowler

Grosvenor Arch is a unique sandstone double arch standing 150ft tall, named to honour Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor, a president of the National Geographic Society, publishers of the National Geographic Magazine. The largest arch is nearly 100ft/30m in diameter. You can walk right up under the arches and look up into the sky. You can follow an unmarked trail after the pavement ends; it will lead you to the top of the ridge in close proximity and almost equal in height to the arch. Here, your vantage of the surrounding area will be expansive and scenic. (Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah, USA)
