Red Sand Beach - Photo by John Solaro (sooolaro)

The deep red colour in the sand comes from the high content of iron in the volcanic material found on the island. The beach is usually home to a large seal group. As you look down the coastline, you will see jagged rocks and volcanic cliffs with a similar red colouring as the sand due to the high iron content. (Rabida Island, Galapagos, Ecuador)
