📰 Photography News Digest 📰
“A good photograph is knowing where to stand”
– Ansel Adams
- This one is almost impossible to believe. Craft brewers Dogfish Head have joined Kodak and created a beer that can be used to develop Super 8 film. Seriously. We’re not sure if that’s a waste of good beer or a wonderful way to spend the day in the darkroom. In either case, if you’re a day-drinking photographer like us, this one’s for you!
- After a winter of frost-bitten fingers, we’re wishing we’d bought these amazing photography gloves earlier. Specifically designed with photographers in mind, they might be the nicest we’ve ever seen.
- Speaking of things we’re lusting after, I’m becoming very interested in the 3D Lut Creator software. If you’re into colour grading this tool looks amazing…and expensive. If you’re into colour grading your shots to get a cinematic look though, this is undoubtedly the software for you.
- This week on the PIXEO App blog we have Goldstream Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. I had a chance to shoot it a couple of weeks ago and if you’re on the island you really need to check it out.

Pennybacker Bridge
Once again, we couldn’t pick just one. Kuki Bastos is also our shot of the week with this stunning dusk shot of the Pennybacker Bridge. The bridge across Lake Austin which connects the northern and southern sections of the Loop 360 highway, also known as the “Capital of Texas Highway.” Great shot Kuki!

Barrie Barn
First, we have new user Robbie Arlow sent in his first submission and it’s a beauty. Check out this lovely old barn outside of Barrie, Ontario. We love the muted tones and the way the sun just barely peeks out through the slats.

Meanwhile, in Belgium, we have a user we haven’t seen for a while. Stoneface shares this amazing shot of a cobblestone back alley called Rue à Degrés. Love the solitude and warm colours.

Carbide Willson Ruins
To wrap things up here is another shot from my adventure out to the Carbide Willson Ruins. This cute waterfall and dam ruins are just behind the mill itself and the winter weather and hints of leaves on the tree created a framing opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

Well, the newsletter is early this week because I’m off across the pond to Europe again for my day job. Definitely hoping I get a few moments away to get out and shoot.
