Iwakuni Cherry Blossoms

When we saw new uploader Blake McCluney’s shot of this stunning Cherry Blossom tree in Iwakuni, Japan we were blown away. We love this stunning photo and it makes us dream of spring. These cherry trees bloom in the late March-early April and the cherry blossoms take over Iwakuni, like in many other areas of Japan.  (Iwakuni, Japan)

Eilenriede City Park

Julian’s fairytale-like processing and soft understated warmth make this shot a favourite of the week for us. This is the stunning  Eilenriede City Park that has beautiful scenic paths through the heart of this forest, creating a gem for nature shooting in the middle of Hanover City. (Hanover, Germany)

Sivik Peninsula

Pär shares a beautiful sunset with purple pastels and small Thrift flowers emerging from an impossible crevice. The Thrift (Armeria maritima) is an amazing flower – living in small cracks on the rocks, with no soil at all, and when the bloom is over, it dries out totally during late spring and summer. The Sivik Peninsula has a beautiful rocky shoreline that is a wonderful mix of long smooth rocks and hints of nature. This area is filled with amazing shooting angles, especially at sunset. WWII Liberty Ships

Elaine shares these beautiful abandoned giant hulks which are slowly succumbing to the elements and becoming a new home for local wildlife and fauna. These 7 WWII Liberty ships floating in the Powell River were placed there to form a breakwater making the harbour safe for barges carrying wood chips for the pulp mill. (Powell River, British Columbia)

The Painted Ladies

This week Nilesh shares this iconic San Franciscan photo spot. A lovely colourful contrast to the bright blue skies. These are the famous Painted Ladies; an incredible row of historic Victorian houses painted in amazing colours along Steiner Street.  (San Francisco, California, USA)

Scripps Pier

Scripps Pier is the perfect location for sunset viewing and a stroll on the beach, and a fantastic photography subject as JP demonstrates in this great B&W. Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier is a long concrete pier that stretched well out into the bay that is a working Oceanography lab so there is no public access to the pier itself, but there are still some dynamic shooting views under the pier. (La Jolla, California)

Rumiñahui Volcano

Wild horses couldn’t keep us away from this fantastic scene from Henri Leduc. Rumiñahui is a dormant, heavily eroded volcano of rising 4721m in the heart of Cotopaxi National Park. As a bonus, the plains surrounding the volcano have roaming herds of wild horses. (Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador)

Cutie Hollow Falls

Aaron outdoes himself this week, with this fantastic waterfall shot from Nova Scotia, Canada. Cutie Hollow Falls is a set of rocky cascading falls. The falls are a 3.5 km round trip hike from the Trailhead on Browns Mountain Road along a rough and wet but well-marked trail.  (Antigonish, Nova Scotia)
