Ecker Dam (Altenau, Germany)

Blue Skies and bright forests frame the Ecker Dam in Harz National Park in this lovely shot from Julian Cubil. The Ecker Dam is a massive gravity dam that was completed in the early 1940s.  The reservoir has amazing colours due to the rivers flowing down from the mountains in Harz National Park. Though not accessible by car, the Ecker Dam and the circular trail around its reservoir are popular destinations for daytrippers. The dam wall is checkpoint no. 1 in the Harzer Wandernadel hiking trail network (https://www.harzer-wandernadel.de/). (Altenau, Germany)

Wolf Lake Portage Point (Kawartha Highlands, Ontario, Canada)

The stunning wilderness of the Kawartha Highlands makes it the perfect destination for canoeing and backcountry camping. This is the portage point between Wolf Lake and Crab Lake where backpackers can carry their canoes overland between the two lakes. Kawartha Highlands is an Ontario Provincial Park and a more secluded Ontario park than Algonquin Park. Well worth a visit. (Kawartha Highlands, Ontario, Canada)
