These weathered red fishing buildings sit along a quiet fjord in northern Norway, slowly reclaiming themselves as paint peels and timber warps with each passing season. The structures offer strong graphic compositions, with their reflections in the still water below making for clean, symmetrical shots when conditions are calm. Shoot from the shoreline to include both the buildings and their mirror image, or get closer to isolate the texture of aged wood and rusted hardware with a macro or short telephoto lens. The golden hour light here is exceptional, especially in summer when the midnight sun skims low across the horizon for hours and wraps everything in warm orange tones. In winter you have a real chance at dramatic skies or even the northern lights as a backdrop. The site is accessible from the roadside and you can walk the waterfront edge freely to adjust your framing. (Kvalsund, Finnmark, Norway)
