This former Soviet military base outside Rēzekne offers a striking collection of decaying concrete structures, rusted equipment, and overgrown interiors that reward patient exploration. The crumbling hangars and barracks give you strong geometric lines to work with, and broken windows make natural frames for shooting deeper into the buildings. Peeling paint, scattered debris, and light shafts cutting through collapsed roofs are worth looking for as you move through the site. Overcast days work particularly well here, softening harsh shadows and bringing out the muted tones of weathered concrete without blowing out bright sky through open sections. A wide-angle lens handles the large interior spaces well, while a standard zoom lets you isolate textures and details. Wear sturdy footwear as floors can be uneven or unstable, and bring a flashlight for darker interior rooms. (Raņķi parish, Latvia)
