Acadian Village is an open-air living history museum in Caraquet that recreates an 18th and 19th century Acadian settlement, with authentically restored heritage buildings scattered across a forested landscape. The wooden structures, including homes, a chapel, a blacksmith shop, and barns, offer strong architectural character with weathered textures and period details that reward close-up shooting as much as wider environmental shots. Overcast days work particularly well here, as the soft diffused light eliminates harsh shadows on the building facades and brings out the rich tones of aged wood and stone. A wide-to-mid range zoom lens gives you flexibility to move between tight detail shots and full building compositions framed against the surrounding trees. In summer, costumed interpreters add human interest and a sense of life to your frames. Pathways wind naturally between structures, making it easy to find leading lines and layered compositions throughout the site. (Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada)
