About Albena Beach
Albena Beach is a long strip of fine golden sand in the resort town of Albena, where sunrise lifts straight out of the Black Sea. The beach stretches out for about 5 km with the sand sloping so gently that the water stays shallow a long way out. This is the perfect spot to experiment with sunrise photography. Aim to be here just before first light, also before the beach fills up, when the sand is smooth and the colours coming from the water are amazing. Low dawn sun warms the gold of the sand and creates long shadows across ripples and footprints. The shallow, calm water mirrors the sky, so you can walk out to the waterline to create wide frames with colour above and below. A longer lens aimed down the length of the beach stacks the shoreline and hotels into layers. Albena sits just off the main coast road (E87) between Varna and Balchik, making the beach easily accessible for a quick day trip. The beach is dotted with sunbeds and umbrellas that can be rented and often fill up quickly on the weekends. (Albena, Dobrich Province, Bulgaria)
