Albion Falls
Albion Falls is a striking 19-metre cascade waterfall tucked into the Niagara Escarpment, where water tumbles down layered rock shelves in a series of staggered drops that give it real visual texture and depth. A viewing platform at the top of the gorge offers a classic straight-on composition, but the best shots often come from working your way down the trail to get closer and lower, letting the falls fill your frame with the rocky walls on either side. Overcast days are ideal here since the gorge is surrounded by trees and direct sunlight creates harsh contrast; cloudy skies give you even light that helps bring out the greens and the detail in the cascading water. A wide-angle lens works well for environmental shots, while a telephoto can isolate individual tiers. Bring a tripod and use a slow shutter speed to smooth the water into silky streaks.
