Andenes sits at the very top of Andøya island in northern Norway, where the Arctic Ocean hammers a raw, boulder-strewn shoreline that feels genuinely remote and dramatic. The coastline gives you a mix of smooth rocks, crashing surf, and wide open skies that work well with a wide-angle lens to pull the foreground texture into the frame. During summer, the midnight sun keeps the light low and golden for hours, letting you shoot long exposures of the waves without racing the clock; in winter, you have a real chance at catching the northern lights reflected in tidal pools along the shore. Position yourself close to the waterline to make the most of the rocky foreground, and look north toward open ocean for the most unobstructed compositions. The area is walkable from town, requires no special access, and rewards patience as the light shifts constantly in the Arctic atmosphere. (Andenes, Vesterålen, Norway)
