Designed by Dominique Perrault, this striking spiral footbridge winds along the Manzanares River in Madrid Rio park, its stainless steel mesh creating constantly shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day. You can shoot from inside the tunnel-like structure looking down its length for a strong perspective compression effect, or position yourself on the riverbank to capture the full spiraling form against the sky. A wide-angle lens works well inside for the converging lines, while a short telephoto helps isolate the mesh texture and geometric repetition from a distance. The structure genuinely transforms depending on the light; midday sun creates dramatic filtered shadows across the walkway, while blue hour and night bring out the internal illumination, making it glow against the dark. The park is flat and easily walkable, with multiple access points along the river. (Madrid, Spain)
