The Arrigoni Bridge is a sweeping steel through-arch structure spanning the Connecticut River, and its twin 600-foot arches give you strong geometric lines to work with from multiple vantage points. For the best compositions, head down to the riverbanks on either the Middletown or Portland side, where you can frame the full arch span reflected in the water below. Low angles near the shoreline emphasize the bridge's scale against the sky, while a longer focal length, around 70-200mm, lets you compress the arches and any passing boats or foliage into a tighter frame. Golden hour is ideal here, with warm light catching the steel structure and soft reflections on the river. The Middletown riverfront park gives you easy access and open sightlines, and fall foliage along the banks adds strong color contrast against the grey steel. A wide angle works well if you position yourself close to one of the concrete piers. (Middletown, Connecticut, United States)
