The former Ash Avenue Bridge was the first major highway bridge across the Salt River. It was constructed from 1911 to 1913, and it was replaced in 1931 by the 1931 Tempe Bridge. It was a pedestrian walkway until the rest of the bridge was demolished in 1991.
