The Bahá'í House of Worship stands on high ground above the village of Langenhain, in the hills west of Frankfurt. It is the only one of its kind in Europe. The building is a white dome on a nine-sided base, with a door in every side and glass between them. The symmetry of the building is just begging to be photographed. Nine matching faces mean there is no wrong side. Taking your time to walk the full circle means you will always find a side with the right light for whatever tone you are looking for. Ribs run up the outside of the dome and gather into a ring at the top. Getting in close to shoot straight up one of those ribs will give you a strong graphic frame. Rows of diamond shaped glass fill the spaces between the ribs, and inside they spread daylight across the floor in patterns that shift throughout the day. The interior is kept as a quiet, meditative space, so make sure to stop by the visitor centre and ask before setting up. Gardens and rose beds surround the building outside creating many amazing viewpoints as you slowly explore the grounds. The hilltop looks over the Rhine-Main plain, with Frankfurt's towers on the horizon. Entry is free and the grounds are open daily, though Sunday afternoons have a devotional program so its not an ideal time to plan your photography adventure. (Hofheim-Langenhain, Hesse, Germany)
