Bayfront Park is a peaceful curve of greenspace that traces the edge of Sarasota Bay, tucked in between open water and the boats of Marina Jack. Its open western edge means sunset brings amazing colour to the already photogenic view. Sailboats drift across the water and the Ringling Causeway bridge arcs low on the horizon creating an amazing variety of compositions. You can walk the promenade and use the moored yachts as foreground, or drop low for their reflections on a calm evening. The Unconditional Surrender statue stands here too, a sailor and nurse caught mid-kiss, and works as the perfect silhouette against the colours of sunset. Once the sun's down the colours disappear quickly so it is worth coming to check out the various composition options a head of time and choose which one is going to work best with your shooting style. The park is free and open late. There is a paid parking lot at the park but there are usually lots of free spots within a short walk away. (Sarasota, Florida, United States)
