Beaver Island Harbor Lighthouse
Beaver Island Harbor Lighthouse, also known as St. James Light, stands at the entrance to St. James Harbor on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan. Built in 1856, the lighthouse features a tall cylindrical tower constructed of Cream City brick, painted white, and topped with a red lantern, creating a strong visual contrast against the surrounding forest and lake. It is especially photogenic at sunrise and sunset when soft light enhances the textures and colors of the structure and shoreline. The lighthouse is easily accessible by foot or bike from the village of St. James and can be photographed from various vantage points along the harbor. With its historic design and peaceful Great Lakes setting, it’s a rewarding stop for maritime and landscape photographers. (Beaver Island, St. James, Michigan, USA)
