About Beck Chapel, Indiana University

Beck Chapel is a cute little chapel open to all faiths, sitting in a quiet wooded corner of the Indiana University campus. It was built from Indiana limestone and wood from southern Indiana forests and a unique copper spire that slowly turned to a rich green over the years. The university dedicated it in the 1950s, and it still hosts weddings and memorial services today. The pale stone walls and bronze doors sit among mature trees, with the old Dunn family cemetery right next door. Inside, six stained glass windows fill one of the walls and creating amazing light patterns on a sunny day. The chapel is open to the public every day (unless it's booked for a private event). The grounds of the chapel are generally quiet so you will have lots of time and space to experiment with various compositions. You can try framing the spire through tree branches, or step back to highlight how quaint the chapel feels tucked away in the woods. Fall is a great time to come, when the leaves turn gold and red around the pale stone. (Bloomington, Indiana, United States)
