Ben Crom Reservoir (and Dam) was constructed between 1953 and 1957 to supply water for County Down, surrounding counties and most of Belfast. This peaceful reservoir is tucked away under the Mourne Mountains, surrounded by scenic views and winding walking trails. Ben Crom Dam is a mass gravity dam, designed so that the dam's own weight stabilizes it against the force of the water. (Kilkeel, County Down, Northern Ireland)
