About Binningup Beach
Binningup Beach stretches out for kilometres along the Indian Ocean tucked behind the small coastal town of Binningup. This amazing stretch of beach features white sand backed by tall dunes and a reef running just offshore. That reef keeps the water calm close in, and causes the swell to break in long white rows along its outer edge. Near town, rocky outcrops poke out along the shoreline and make a great foreground for wider shots down the sand. The beach faces almost exactly west, so sunset is the perfect time to be here. The sun drops straight into the ocean and creates amazing reflections along the waterline. You can easily have lots of space to experiment with getting low at the water's edge as a wave pulls back and the wet sand will mirror the colour in the sky. For a higher view of the sand and dunes, head up to the Valentine Beach Lookout or the lookouts along West Coast Dr. There's lot of free parking beside the main swimming beach, and there is lots of space to explore further along the beach in both directions. While you are exploring please make sure to stick to the marked paths over the dunes, they are fragile ecosystems that are slowly being replanted. Plan on staying well into sunset and even later if you want to experiment with some astrophotography further up the beach away from town. (Binningup, Western Australia, Australia)
