About Bootshäuser Schledorf
Bootshäuser Schledorf is a unique trio of timber boathouses standing in a peaceful bay along the north end of Kochelsee. They open facing the water and from behind they line up like a small row of barns has wandered into the lake. The boathouses you see today are not the originals, those burned down in 2022 and replacements went up in 2024 using the exact same design, so the classic composition holds true to the original view. Walking along the shore path lets you look over the lake to sit all three under the rolling hill on the far shore, or you can easily get down at the water's edge for a low angle that puts their reflections in the foreground. Cold mornings bring mist off the lake, which lifts the huts off the background and give you a peaceful vibe to your compositions. It is worth getting up early for both the mist and calm water to experiment with reflection photography. The boathouses are easily accessibly with parking at the Klosterbräu lot in the village and a short walk down to the shore. (Schlehdorf, Bavaria, Germany)
