Bull's Bridge is one of only three covered bridges in Connecticut still open to vehicle traffic, spanning the Housatonic River with classic timber construction and a warm, weathered wood interior that rewards wide and medium focal lengths alike. The bridge itself frames naturally as a tunnel shot from either end, with the rectangular opening creating strong leading lines toward the river and surrounding forest. Outside, the rocky gorge beneath the bridge is the real draw, where the Housatonic churns through a dramatic series of drops and boulders that work beautifully with a slow shutter speed to smooth the water. Get down to the riverbank for a low angle that puts the bridge structure against the tree canopy above. Overcast days are ideal here since the gorge sits in partial shade and diffused light prevents harsh contrast on the rocks and water. A short trail leads down to the water's edge, and parking is available just off Route 7. (Kent, Connecticut, United States)
