Burmis Tree is a limber pine that died in the late 1970s after losing its needles and was estimated to be between 600 and 750 years old. The local community has rallied around the tree to keep it standing and protected - a new highway was even re-routed to go around the tree. It is especially photogenic because of its mountainous backdrop. (Burmis, Alberta)
