Burnt Wagon Lake
Burnt Wagon Lake is a glacially formed kettle lake tucked inside the Chippewa Moraine Lakes State Natural Area, offering calm, reflective water surrounded by undisturbed forest and rolling moraine topography. The lake's relatively undeveloped shoreline keeps the scene clean and natural, making it ideal for wide landscape shots that emphasize the relationship between water, sky, and treeline. Early morning is your best window, when mist often rises off the surface and the light is soft and directional; a polarizing filter will help cut glare and saturate the colors of the surrounding vegetation. Position yourself low along the shoreline to capture strong foreground reflections, or find elevated spots on the moraine ridges nearby for a broader perspective showing the lake nested in its glacial bowl. A wide to mid-range zoom handles most situations well here. Access is via trail, so plan for a short hike in with your gear. (Chippewa County, Wisconsin, United States)
