The Cagsawa Ruins are the remnants of a 16th-century Franciscan church that has had a turbulent history. Originally built in 1587 it was burned down and destroyed by Dutch pirates in 1636. It was eventually rebuilt in 1724, but then it was destroyed again, along with the whole town, in 1814 during the eruption of the Mayon Volcano. (Daraga, Philippines)
