The Cape Arago Lighthouse Viewpoint, located along Cape Arago Highway, gives you a great angle on the lighthouse sitting offshore on its own rocky island. While you cannot access the lighthouse itself, this viewpoint lets you frame it nicely against the dramatic coastline, with waves crashing into the rocks and seabirds often passing through the scene. It is a really solid spot for working with layers, using the cliffs and foreground elements to add depth while keeping the lighthouse as the main subject. Sunset tends to work especially well here, with warm light hitting the cliffs and ocean, but overcast or moody conditions can also add a lot of character to your shots. There are a few pull offs and viewpoints along the road, so it is worth taking your time and exploring slightly different angles. It is an easy stop if you are driving the southern Oregon coast and want a classic coastal composition with a bit of atmosphere. (Coos Bay, Oregon, USA)
