Cape Flattery
Cape Flattery, located at the northwesternmost point of the contiguous United States, offers photographers a dramatic coastal setting with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, sea stacks, and crashing waves. A well maintained trail through coastal forest leads to several wooden viewing platforms overlooking the cliffs, with the best light occurring at sunset when the sky often glows behind the jagged shoreline. The walk to the viewpoints is about 0.75 miles and includes some uneven ground, but it’s manageable for most visitors. This spot is part of the Makah Reservation, and a recreation permit is required, which can be purchased in nearby Neah Bay. With its wild beauty and powerful ocean scenery, Cape Flattery is a must visit for seascape and nature photographers. (Neah Bay, Washington, USA)
