Cascata do Salto do Cabrito
Cascata do Salto do Cabrito is a dramatic waterfall tucked into the forested hills near Ribeira Grande on São Miguel Island in the Azores. Cascading over a rugged basalt cliff into a rocky pool below, the falls are surrounded by dense greenery and remnants of old hydroelectric infrastructure, offering both natural beauty and unique man-made textures for photographers. The site is accessible via a short hike from a nearby parking area or as part of a longer trail from Caldeiras. Early morning or overcast days provide the best lighting to avoid harsh contrasts and bring out the rich greens and dark volcanic stone. Tripods and long exposures work well here to capture the smooth motion of the water. (Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Portugal)
