Charleston Girls School
Madame Talvande ran an exclusive boarding school for girls from 1819-1849. One of the girls eloped with a gentlemen from New Jersey so Madame Talvande had high walls erected around the school to prevent this from happening ever again. The gates are designed by Christopher Werner and are a distictive feature of the site. -from Wikipedia
