Consonno Ghost Town
Consonno was once a small traditional village, which, in the 1960s, was transformed into a luxury resort intended to be a "City of Toys" by entrepreneur Mario Bagno. After a landslide in 1977, the project was abandoned, leaving behind a fascinating blend of ruins from various architectural styles, including a minaret, a medieval-style castle, and modernist buildings, which have been slowly reclaimed by nature over the years. Today, this ghost town provides a myriad of photographic opportunities, offering a unique juxtaposition of decaying architecture and lush natural surroundings. Its abandoned structures, overgrown with greenery, offer poignant reminders of its past grandeur and unfulfilled dreams. With the shifting light and seasons, photographers can capture a wealth of atmospheric images, from wide shots of the town's layout to detailed close-ups of nature's reclaim.
