About Copenhagen Opera House
The Copenhagen Opera House (Operaen) sits on a trio of islands in the middle of the Copenhagen's bustling harbour front. The Opera House's unique design is quite eye catching from where ever you are along the waterfront. It's flat roof juts out over the entrance plaza, and beneath it a curved wall of glass reflections everything around it. For a straight on view you can venture across the harbour to the Amaliehaven garden where the fountain and the Opera House line up perfectly across the water. Low angles from the promenade running in front of the Opera House lets you highlight the roof overhang against the sky. The glass front faces west, so afternoon and evening sun warms the stonework and catches the glass. After dark is the ideal time to be here, the foyer lights up and the gold shell inside glows through the front, and the harbour quiets to create reflections. There is lots of space to spread out and explore before finding just the right shooting angles. (Copenhagen, Capital Region, Denmark)
