Cromer's Mill Covered Bridge is a weathered 1906 wooden covered bridge spanning Nails Creek in rural Georgia, and its aged timber, rusted metal accents, and vine-crept exterior make it a rewarding find for photographers drawn to decay and historical character. Shoot from the creek bank below to frame the full span with the water in the foreground, or position yourself inside the tunnel to use the rectangular opening as a natural frame looking out toward the trees and light beyond. The soft, diffused light of overcast days works especially well here, reducing harsh shadows inside the dark interior. Early morning visits give you mist rising off the creek and quieter conditions. A wide angle lens handles the interior tunnel shots well, while a short telephoto is useful for isolating weathered details on the exterior. The site is rural and low-traffic, so give yourself time to explore both banks. (Franklin County, Georgia, United States)
