Crystal Bay Beach

Crystal Bay Beach is a quiet cove on the west coast of Nusa Penida, known for its pale grey-white sand, rugged volcanic rock outcrops, and a small offshore islet with a natural rock arch that makes for a compelling focal point. Sunset is the prime time to shoot here, with the sun dropping almost directly behind the islet and arch, giving you strong silhouette opportunities and warm backlit tones. Work from the waterline during low tide to include foreground rock textures and wet sand reflections, or move to the elevated rocky outcrops on either side of the beach for a wider framing of the cove. A 24-70mm lens handles most compositions well, though a longer focal length lets you compress the arch against the background sky.
