About Cumberland Presbyterian Church
Cumberland Presbyterian Church stands quietly on a residential corner in Clarendon. This classic wood building has been sitting abandoned for a number of years and has slowly weathered down to bare grey board. It was originally built in 1869 for a congregation formed a few years before the Civil War, and it was among the first churches rebuilt after the town burned. Later it served as a Masonic lodge, a town library and a Boy Scout hall. Today the lower windows are boarded and the grass runs long around the piers. It's sits on a very quiet street, so it's best to shoot from the sidewalk and public roads. Since it sits on a corner it will be easy to experiment with compositions while still staying on public property. Ideally try and go on an overcast day to really highlight the haunted abandoned feel.
