About Davenport House
The Davenport House is a historic gem tucked away on East Michigan Avenue in Saline. Detroit architect It was originally built in 1875 for William H. Davenport, the town's leading merchant and later its banker. It's unique design with an intricate tile roof, a tower, and heavy trim, painted green with contrasting details all work together to make it quite photogenic. Shooting from the sidewalk out front lets you capture the entire house in one frame. Two original carriage barns sit behind the house. This is a private residence, so you'll have to stay on the sidewalk and public road. Michigan Avenue is US-12 and traffic runs steadily past so its easiest to park downtown a few blocks west and walk over. It's a quick shooting stop if you are exploring the area.
