Disko Bay delivers one of the most dramatic frozen seascapes on earth, where enormous icebergs calved from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier drift slowly through dark Arctic waters. You can shoot from the rocky shoreline near Ilulissat, using the uneven coastline and foreground boulders to anchor compositions, or walk the trails along the Icefjord to find elevated perspectives looking out over the ice field. A telephoto lens in the 100-400mm range lets you compress the distance and stack icebergs for maximum visual impact, while a wide angle captures the sheer scale of individual bergs close to shore. Midnight sun conditions in summer give you warm, low-angle light that bathes the ice in gold and pink tones for hours, so you are not locked into a narrow window. Dress for cold and wind regardless of season, and watch for rapidly changing weather. (Ilulissat, Greenland)
