About Domaine Carneros Winery
Domaine Carneros is the French chateau you spot from the Carneros Highway. The pale cream building with a deep grey roof sits photogenically on a low hill with vineyard rows running down every side of it. The most obvious frame is from the bottom of the grand staircase, shooting up past the stone balusters and flower planters to the front doors, and a wide lens exaggerates the climb. The view from along Duhig Road lets you capture the chateau sitting up on its hill with rows of grapes leading you into the frame. Aim to so shoot early in the day or in the last hour before sunset when the plaster warms to gold and you can really highlight the chateau's intricate details. Autumn adds reds and yellows to the vine rows below, and winter mornings often bring low mist to Carneros, which is worth the early drive. Tastings on the terrace and in the salon are seated and require a reservation, and you need to be of legal drinking age to get past the entrance, but the exterior and the staircase are yours to explore with the reservation. You can shoot from the surrounding roads and the winery's parking lot without a reservation and if you are not over 21. (Napa, California, United States)
