About Drachensee
Drachensee is a stunning alpine lake tucked beneath the rugged limestone peaks of the Mieminger Chain near Ehrwalder Alm. Often visited after the nearby Seebensee, this smaller lake rewards the extra effort with a dramatic setting, its deep blue waters reflecting the jagged cliffs that rise directly above. The surrounding trails provide elevated viewpoints perfect for capturing wide-angle alpine landscapes, while the lakeshore itself offers intimate compositions of water, rock, and mountain. Reaching Drachensee requires a demanding hike, but the scenery and photographic potential make it worthwhile, especially at sunrise or sunset when the light enhances the textures of the peaks.
