Duff House
Duff House is a grand Georgian baroque mansion set within mature woodland along the River Deveron, its towering stone facade and ornate detailing making it one of Scotland's most striking country houses. The building rewards a wide-angle lens, particularly from the formal approach path where the symmetrical front elevation frames beautifully against the sky. Try shooting from low and slightly back to capture the full height of the structure, or move around to the riverside side for a softer composition with trees framing the building. Overcast days are ideal here as they reduce harsh shadows on the pale stone and bring out the texture in the carved details. Golden hour adds warmth to the facade and creates long shadows across the grounds. The site is well maintained and freely accessible around the exterior, with open lawn giving you room to work multiple angles. (Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland)
