The Emsworth Promenade runs along the seawall on the west side of town, with amazing views looking out over the Mill Pond on one side and the head of the Emsworth Channel on the other. This basin drains completely twice a day, making the differences between high tide views and low tides views quite drastic. Small boats settle onto the mud, patiently waiting for the water to return. Working from the shoreline beside the wall lets you get down low and close to the small boats sitting in the mud with the waterfront houses and the yacht harbour masts sitting across the water behind. Morning light comes round from the east and lands on the far shore giving you shots a soft, peaceful vibe. Old timber lined oyster beds still show on the mud, and the Oyster Trail boards along the path explain what you're looking at. Check a tide table before heading out so you can time the water level to match your shooting style. Make sure to stay near the wall if you are venturing down onto the mud during low tide, the flats further out are softer than they appear and birds feed on them. (Emsworth, Hampshire, England)
