Evangeline Statue on the historical grounds of the Grand-Pré National Historic Site. Evangeline was the heroine of an epic Longfellow poem published in the United States in 1847. The poem told the story of the the story of the Deportation and le Grand Dérangement, the great uprooting. It became popular for American tourists who wanted to visit the birthplace of the poem's heroine, Evangeline.
