Faro de José Ignacio is a late 19th century lighthouse sitting on the rocky shoreline of a small seaside town. The tall stone tower stands out immediately, rising above a few low white buildings with the open Atlantic behind it. With the rocky shorline, shallow pools, and open water to work with, it is very easy to try different types of shots all in one spot. The lighthouse gives you a strong subject that works from almost any angle, especially when you keep it clean against the horizon. Softer light tends to suit it best, but even on grey days the tones and textures still come through nicely. It is the kind of place where you can wander a bit and see what compositions come together.
