Florence Falls

Florence Falls is a stunning twin-plunge waterfall dropping into a deep, clear swimming hole surrounded by monsoon rainforest in Litchfield National Park. The best compositions frame both falls together using a wide angle lens, with the lush green canopy overhead and the turquoise pool below anchoring the shot. A short viewing platform at the top of the stairs gives you an elevated perspective over the scene, while descending to the water's edge lets you shoot upward toward the cascades with people swimming adding a sense of scale. Soft, overcast light works beautifully here since the gorge walls shade the pool for much of the day, reducing harsh contrast. Visit early morning on a weekday to avoid crowds.
