Folk Art Park
Folk Art Park sits beneath and along the Freedom Parkway overpass in midtown Atlanta, where a dense collection of mosaic sculptures, painted concrete, and folk art installations line the pedestrian paths on either side. The work is bold and colorful, making it well suited for close detail shots as well as wider environmental portraits that show the urban infrastructure framing the art. Look for strong graphic compositions by getting low and using the columns and archways of the overpass to create depth and frame individual pieces. An overcast day is ideal here since the covered structure already limits direct light, and flat diffused conditions bring out the saturated colors without harsh shadows. A 24-70mm lens gives you flexibility to move between tight details and broader scenes. The park is open and walkable, with enough space to back up for context shots that include the overpass itself.
