The Forte de São João Baptista is also known as the Fort of the Berlengas. It is a 17th-century island fortress with a pit arched stone bridge perched atop some rocks and surrounded by shallow reefs. The fort is well known for its stunning location and slightly and ruinous overgrown appearance. The fortress is open to the public during the summer. (Peniche, Portugal)
